Marco Island Beach Photography FAQs: Planning Your Family Session
Planning family photos during your Marco Island vacation? From choosing outfits to getting everyone comfortable in front of the camera, a little preparation can make the experience easier. Here are answers to common questions about family beach photography with Joey Waves Photography.

What does a family beach photography session include?
Your session includes up to one hour of photography, friendly posing guidance from Erin, and professional editing of your delivered photographs.
Joey captures a mix of guided portraits and candid moments, giving you both photographs of everyone together and the little interactions that make your family yours.
You’ll receive your edited, high-resolution digital images in a private Google Drive folder. You can download, share, and print them wherever you choose. There are no additional image fees and nothing else to purchase from us.
How long does a session last?
Most family sessions last approximately 40–60 minutes, with longer sessions available.
Before your session, let Erin know your group size and any important photo combinations. That helps us plan time for the whole family, smaller groups, and individual portraits.
What time should we meet for sunset photos?
Meeting times depend on the date and location. Sunset changes throughout the year, so Erin will coordinate your specific meeting time and place.
Allow extra time for parking and walking to the beach, especially if you’re bringing young children or a larger group.

What should we wear for family beach photos?
Choose coordinating colors rather than identical outfits. Soft neutrals, pastels, and complementary shades can look lovely together against the sand and water.
Comfort matters, too. Wear clothing you can sit, walk, and move in easily. Before packing, try everyone’s outfits together and check that you feel comfortable in yours.
What should we bring?
Keep it simple: water, a small brush, a hair tie, and comfortable shoes for the walk to the beach.
If you’re bringing young children, consider anything they may need to stay comfortable. Let Erin know about nap schedules, mobility needs, or other details that will help us prepare.
Can grandparents and extended family join?
Absolutely. We photograph multigenerational families, reunions, and groups vacationing together.
Tell Erin how many people will attend and which combinations you’d love to have photographed. You might want the entire family together, grandparents with grandchildren, siblings, and each household separately.
Will you help us pose?
Yes! You don’t need to arrive knowing what to do.
Joey photographs your session while Erin provides posing guidance and helps organize your family groupings. We’ll guide you through the portraits and leave room for natural movement, conversation, and laughter.
What if my children won’t sit still?
Children don’t need to be perfectly still for every photograph. Joey captures candid moments alongside guided portraits, and Erin helps keep everyone comfortable.
Tell us your children’s ages beforehand. During the session, give them room to settle in and be themselves—some of the sweetest photographs happen between the posed moments.
How will we receive our photographs?
We’ll send you a link to a private Google Drive folder containing your professionally edited, high-resolution digital images.
Your family can view and download the photographs, share them with loved ones, and order prints from the provider of your choice.
Do we have to purchase prints or individual images separately?
No. Your session includes the delivered, edited digital photographs. There are no additional image fees or required print purchases.
You decide how you’d like to enjoy them, whether that’s a framed family portrait, a photo book, or sharing favorites with relatives.
How do we find out about pricing and availability?
